Wooden Architecture of the Ukrainian Carpathians

$30.00

The Lemko Research Foundation, Inc. has undertaken the publication of this book because the Lemkos have a special affinity for wooden architecture. The Lemkos’ material culture is based upon wood (although other types of material resources were not lacking in Lemkivshchyna). Almost all dwellings, schools, churches, chapels, fortifications, as well as practically all implements and furnishings, were made of wooden material. The illustrative material for this publication was prepared by a Lemko who made a study of Ukrainian Carpathian wooden architecture of the 16th-19th centuries and has masterfully recreated numerous examples of it in his drawings.
